Winter still not over...

I've uploaded a couple images from my time here so far. One is Old Faithful Geyser and the other is the weather today at Yellowstone Lake. It snowed a couple inches today. Nice weather. I didn't get my winter fix this year, so a bit of snow is OK with me. My Medcor orientation is over and I officially start working Saturday. So, I have some days off to explore. I'm ready to both get to work and explore. I'm hoping to go snowshoeing later this week. There is still plenty of snow. I've already seen some good stupid human tricks so far. I went for a drive yesterday evening and saw several people going around barricades in areas that are closed for the presence of a large number of grizzly bears. I also saw several people get very close to a carcass which I'm told is a very bad idea due to the previously mentioned grizzly bears. Interesting place out here...lots for me to learn. Stay tuned for more...

Still winter here!

I made it to Yellowstone. It's an incredible place...haven't had much time to explore yet, but the drive in was great. Lots of snow still in the park. In many place there are at least four foot snow walls on the sides of the road. Yellowstone Lake is still well frozen.

The internet is dial up here...so no pictures right now. Pictures will be coming soon when I make a run into West Yellowstone for high speed internet.

It's going to be a great summer....stay tuned!

Almost there...

It's almost time to be in Yellowstone. I've been in Lander, Wyoming for the last three days taking a wilderness EMT refresher at the National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS). It's been a great course with great weather...tomorrow I journey on in to Yellowstone. It's been 60's and sunny here for the last four days and it looks like Yellowstone is going to 40 and rain/snow this weekend. I guess winter isn't done with the park yet.

The trip out was long but uneventful. I didn't miss the Toyota as much as I thought. The jeep handled the load well and the cruise control was really nice. My right knee is much happier.

Not much else has happened...it all starts Saturday. Four days of orientation....

Getting ready to go and packing my toys.

I'm deep in the process of packing for my Yellowstone adventure of 2009. I'm going to be working for Medcor at their clinic at Old Faithful in Yellowstone National Park as an RN. This should be a pretty interesting adventure. Stay tuned for more and photos of the gear pile for the trip!

I'm thinking I'll really miss my old Toyota truck when I starting loading the jeep!
